Federal Advocacy

The Advocacy Team takes the Indivisible national agenda and adapts it to our local priorities and resources, working with the Indivisible Yolo Steering Committee, the Local Action Team and State Strong Yolo for optimal, sustainable impact and volunteer engagement.

By definition, advocacy activities are multi-faceted, dynamic and opportunistic – designed for optimal impact ‘in the moment’ and to build progressive power over time.   At the Federal level, this means advocating with our Members of Congress (MOC) to both fight the MAGA agenda and press for progressive change even in a divided congress.

During election season, the focus will shift to electoral work but our aim is to push for progressive change continuously.

State Strong Yolo

State Strong Yolo works with the California State Strong coalition of 60-plus local Indivisible groups to advocate for progressive legislation at the California State Capitol.

State Strong Yolo works to develop advocacy actions to support our positions on pending legislation and encourages all members to participate in the action.

Members may also act as Indivisible Yolo’s representative to one of the CA State Strong Working Groups, which are organized by subject matter and develop CA State Strong strategy and liaison with affiliate groups.

Local Action Team

The Local Action Team focuses on progressive issues in Yolo County such as climate, criminal, economic, health,  and racial justice.  We have endorsed and supported progressive candidates and periodically mobilize for county and city meetings to influence and hold accountable local elected officials.

The Local Action Team focuses on strategy and effective action to influence selected progressive issues right here in Yolo County.  In 2023 our three teams plan to focus on affordable housing, climate action and criminal justice in Yolo County.  We welcome new members to help us influence local areas such as economic, racial, criminal, health and LGBTQ justice and voter engagement.  We meet bi-monthly to strategize, develop action plans and organize to influence our local electeds and community members on our key issues; in the past we have endorsed and supported progressive candidates.  ‘
