CALL SCRIPTS, WEEK OF OCTOBER 22, 2018

One call, and a lot of getting out the vote this week!

Tell Rep. Garamendi to insist that we take immediate and dramatic action to reduce carbon emissions

Script:

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask Rep Garamendi to sound the alarm and insist that immediate steps be taken to reverse carbon emissions. A new report has now told us that we have ten years to massively reverse the carbon output that is causing global warming. We must act now. I expect Rep Garamendi to make this case loudly and regularly, so it never falls off the congressional radar. I appreciate the work the Congressman has done in the past on climate, but it’s more important than ever to act now. The future of our planet – our future – is at stake.

Phone and text bank to flip the House and Seante

Let’s retake power.

It’s official — the Senate has voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court in a 50-48 vote.

We’re devastated by this news, but we can’t stop fighting now. Republicans could “plow through” because they hold all the power in Congress, which is why it’s more important than ever before that we take it back in November.

Channel your outrage into volunteering to get out the vote for the midterms. We have daily phonebank and textbank shifts to mobilize voters in key races that make the difference in the fights to flip the House, the Senate, and key statehouses across the country.

We’re having postcarding parties almost every day. Between parties at individual houses, to our Action Coffee on Tuesday, and our Beer and Resistance on Thursdays, if you’ve got time, we’ve got postcards.

We’re also spending Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm calling and texting for candidates in districts across California. Join us at the Flip the 14 headquarters: 720 Olive Dr. (Suite E).

Children are STILL being held in detention centers at the borders, let’s remind our representatives not to forget about them

Tell Representatives to end the child detention camps

Feinstein:

Harris:

Garamendi:

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask {PERSON} to demand that the administration* end the mass detention of unaccompanied migrant minors in Texas and end the deportation of their possible sponsors. I’m further asking that {PERSON} demand that all remaining migrant children separated from their parents be reunited immediately.

The administration* is shipping kids in the middle of the night to a giant tent detention center in Texas. There are thousands of them because instead of letting them be cared for by their relatives, many of whom are undocumented, they’re arresting the relatives and putting the kids in camps. Trump doesn’t want to fix this, he wants to harm the children and relatives both. It needs to stop.

Tell Senators to vote NO against Brett Kavanaugh IT’S NOT OVER

Feinstein:

Harris:

Script:

Hello! My name is ___ and I’m calling from [part of state].

I’m calling to tell {PERSON} to vote NO against Brett Kavanaugh for the empty seat on the Supreme Court.

We know more than enough about Judge Kavanaugh already to know that he is a bad choice for this honored seat. Confirming him to the Supreme Court would put reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, the environment, and health care for thousands of people in our state at risk.

Too much hangs in the balance to let Trump fill this seat with Judge Kavanaugh. We know he’s ruled in the past to dismantle net neutrality, sabotage the Affordable Care Act, and block women from having abortions. He’s also considered one of the most anti-environment judges in America. He wouldn’t have been on Trump’s list of 25 potential nominees in the first place if Trump weren’t confident that he would strike down the Affordable Care Act, overturn a woman’s right to choose or harm LGBTQ rights. Nothing in Judge Kavanaugh’s record demonstrates otherwise.
