CALL SCRIPTS, WEEK OF JUNE 18, 20182018-06-18
We have all read the horrible stories about children deliberately being taken from their parents at the border and held in cages (or behind “fences” like the conservative news stories call it, apparently that is a lot better 🤔). Trump has admitted that he is doing so to force the Democrats to support horrific immigration laws and funding for his wall. Let’s make it clear that we do not negotiate with people that are holding kids hostage to get their way!
Call your representatives today!
Tell Rep. Garamendi to Fight Trump’s Wall and Protect Children at the Border
Hi! My name is [name] and I’m calling from [zip code].
I’m calling today to tell Rep. Garamendi to vote NO on both the Goodlatte immigration bill (Securing America’s Future Act of 2018 – H.R. 4760) and the Paul Ryan proposal (The Border Security and Immigration Reform Act of 2018).
The administration started by holding Dreamers hostage. Now they are taking children from their families and caging them to use as a bargaining chip for racist changes to our immigration system. If Rep. Garamendi supports immigrants, he will vote no. I’d like to ask him to support only a clean Dream act, and to make it clear that the administration’s choice to take children from their families and imprison them in camps must stop immediately and will not gain any concessions.
Ask your Senators to Open Investigation into DHS’s Implementation of Zero Tolerance Policy
Hello, my name is _____ and I am a constituent from zip code _____.
First, let me thank the Senator for doing her part in protecting the children at the border by sponsoring (Feinstein)/co-sponsoring (Harris) the “Keeping Families Together Act” in the Senate. I am appalled that that the administration will literally take children hostage to get their immigration policies pushed though.
My main reason for calling today is to as the Senator to open up investigations into the DHS’s implementation of their zero tolerance policy for families at the border.
Per journalists who are now touring facilities and writing stories about the policy, the practice of separating families is leading to children being jailed in detention facilities w/ limited access to fresh air, parents being arrested when they refuse to be separated from their children, and so many more horrific acts.
These are horrific practices that are unacceptable, inhumane, and need to be looked into ASAP. Can I count on the Senator to push for investigations questioning these practices, and push for department and policy changes, to eliminate these acts?
