Tell Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry that People should decide if they want their police get military equipment

Hi, my name is <YOUR NAME> and I am from <YOUR TOWN>. I am calling to ask Hon. Aguiar-Curry to support AB3131 that would require law enforcement to get permission and hold open hearings anytime they wanted to acquire military equipment. Now that the Trump administration has rolled back that ban on transferring military equipment to police, I expect California to step up and implement some serious accountability measures. I’d also like to see Hon. Aguiar-Curry introduce an amendment to ban certain heavy-duty military equipment from being transferred at all, similar to Obama’s executive order.

Tell Members of Congress and FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to Oppose the Merging of Sinclair Broadcasting and Tribune Media

Hello, my name is _____ and I am a constituent from zip code ______.

I’m calling in opposition to the merger of Sinclair Broadcasting and Tribune Media. The merger will expand Sinclair’s reach beyond its legal audience cap of 39% to a massive 72% of U.S. households. The FCC should NOT bend rules or roll back regulations that would prevent this from happening. It’s especially important to maintain these rules in this case, since Sinclair has shown it has a one-sided agenda.

Tell Yolo DA Reisig to Endorse Bills that Holds Police Accountable

I am calling because I would like our District Attorney to come out in support of two bills that will make our law enforcement more accountable to the public. AB 931 and SB 1421 would change the rules for the use of deadly force and require police to release the details of use-of-force investigations. The district attorney in San Francisco has endorsed both bills. What is Reisig’s position?

Ask State Senator Dodd to to Hold Police Accountable

Hi my name is _____ and I am a constituent from _______.

I am calling in support of Senate Bill 1421. This would force law enforcement agencies to release the details of use-of-force investigations, as well as cases of sexual assault while on duty. The only way to restore trust in our police is to be as transparent as possible. What is Senator Dodd’s position on this bill?

[wait for answer]

I want Sen. Dodd to be a leader on this issue, and help restore trust in our police with this good-government measure.

Tell Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry to Restrict Police Use of Deadly Force

I support AB 931, which would change the way police are allowed to use deadly force. As Stephon Clark’s shooting shows, our police need to reserve deadly force for situations where it is truly necessary.

What is her position on this?

[wait for answer]

[If for AB931]
Thank you for your support!

[If againt AB931]
I am extremely disappointed to hear that.

[if she is still undecided]
I don’t understand the Assemblymember’s reluctance to speak out on pending pieces of legislation, especially on urgent matters of public safety. This is the time to act! I want my Assemblymember to be a leader not a follower.
